Personal Umbrella Insurance ? Determine precisely what what this ...

Perhaps you?ve loaded standing on insurance: high limits on car insurance, home and flood insurance, and ample term life insurance. But even these coverages can?t are the reason for every disaster in your everyday living. To further protect your assets, there?s umbrella insurance. Personal umbrella insurance takes over once the limits of your auto or property insurance have already been exhausted high remain damages to pay. How could that happen? Say, as an example, someone falls on your sidewalk and sues you to have an ungodly amount. Or say you create a six-car pile-up traveling.

An umbrella insurance policy has an extra cushion of insurance protection.

How an Umbrella Insurance cover Works

Umbrella insurance covers damage claims that you simply, your dependents and even your pets could potentially cause. They start having to pay following the insurance in your homeowners and auto policy ends. For example, for those who have a home insurance coverage with liability coverage of $300,000, the umbrella policy will probably pay claims above $300,000, as much as the limit you choose, for instance $1 million. Or if the liability limit with your car insurance policy is $250,000 of bodily injury protection per person and $500,000 per accident, your umbrella automobile insurance starts as soon as you exhaust that coverage.

For the reason that most of claim risk is paid through your primary auto or home policies, personal umbrella insurance plans are comparatively cheap. In line with the Insurance Information Institute, you can get a $1 million umbrella policy for about $150 to $300 each year. The subsequent million will definitely cost about $75, contributing to $50 for each million from then on.

Many insurance companies require that you simply purchase both your house and vehicle insurance coverage through them to be able to buy an umbrella policy, too. Further, your insurer may need one to buy auto or home liability limits at least amount, for instance $300,000.

Umbrella Insurance Provides Greater than Your Average Liability

Once you buy a personal liability umbrella policy, you?re getting more than merely higher liability limits. You?re also buying broader coverage in the event you?re sued. The umbrella policy covers you when you cause bodily injury, damage to property or accidental injury. Some umbrella policies also cover you in case you face liability because of your service for the board of an civic, charitable or religious organization.

But just as with any insurance coverage, don?t browse your umbrella policy to cover your intentional acts that create damage. Nor should it purchase punitive damages in judgments against you. Umbrella policies also will not pay for damages from any businesses you operate; for the, you want a business insurance policies. Look at umbrella insurance policy for specific exclusions.

(AP) ? Andy Roddick's legs felt fatigued.

The crowd at Arthur Ashe Stadium was hushed.

And defending champion Rafael Nadal was at his court-covering, groundstroke-whipping, serve-stopping best.

Hardly a good combination for the last American man in the U.S. Open.

Overwhelming Roddick right from the start, Nadal compiled a stunning 22-0 edge in forehand winners, broke six times and never left the outcome of their match even remotely in doubt, winning 6-2, 6-1, 6-3 on Friday to reach the semifinals at Flushing Meadows for the fourth consecutive year.

What was it like for 2003 U.S. Open champion Roddick to be out there, his own game faltering and Nadal's as good as it gets?

"It's a bad feeling. It's almost worse than competing," Roddick said. "You feel helpless."

Nadal took the first four games in 18 minutes. He then reeled off 16 of the last 17 points ? including 12 in a row ? to close the second set.

"It was quick. Obviously, it was a combination of things that probably weren't going to work out today," said Roddick, who had trouble pushing off on serves and forehands and was massaged by a trainer during a medical timeout in the third set. "It was evident pretty early that he was in full control."

Seeking his 11th Grand Slam title, Nadal has yet to drop a set heading into Saturday's semifinal against No. 4 Andy Murray, who beat No. 28 John Isner 7-5, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (2) earlier Friday.

"It will be a very tough match for me," Nadal said, "and hopefully for him, too."

The other semifinal was set up by Thursday's quarterfinals, and it'll be a big one: No. 1 Novak Djokovic against No. 3 Roger Federer, who has won five of his record 16 Grand Slam championships at the U.S. Open. For the second time in the last three major tournaments, the final foursome is filled by the top men ranked Nos. 1-4 ? something that hadn't happened at the U.S. Open since 1992.

"They're pretty firmly the best players in the world right now," Roddick said. "They certainly deserve the numbers next to their names."

Djokovic is 62-2 with nine titles in 2011, including Wimbledon and the Australian Open. His first loss this season came when Federer ended Djokovic's 43-match winning streak in a thrilling French Open semifinal.

Nadal has won 12 of 16 career matchups against Murray, including eliminating him in the semifinals of the French Open on clay and Wimbledon on grass this year.

Now they'll meet on hard courts at the U.S. Open.

"It's a good surface for me to play him on," said Murray, who played 1? hours longer than Nadal did Friday. "It's a close, close matchup."

The exits by Roddick and Isner ? with first lady Michelle Obama in sitting in the stands ? mean this will be the 32nd Grand Slam tournament in a row without a male champion from the United States, extending the country's longest drought, which dates to Roddick's 2003 triumph in New York.

The seats were mostly empty at the start of Murray-Isner, and the partisan crowd was oddly quiet watching Roddick succumb to Nadal.

"You'd rather be booed than have silence. It's an empty feeling," Roddick said. "That's one of the most disconcerting things. You don't ever want them to think you're giving less than you can."

Nadal didn't let Roddick do much.

One example: Roddick won only three of 10 points when he went to the net in the first set.

"That's the most aggressive I've seen him play this summer. He came out swinging," Roddick said. "He has a tendency to play himself into tournaments, and then by the end, he's taking cuts. I feel like today he was doing that."

Not all that long ago, the 29-year-old Roddick wasn't even sure whether he'd be able to compete at the U.S. Open this year because of a torn muscle in his side. Struggling with various injuries, the former No. 1-ranked man endured a tough season, and he dropped outside the top 20 for the first time in a decade.

At the U.S. Open, though, Roddick's serve was broken only a total of six times in four matches until Friday. Then again, he hadn't faced anyone anywhere close to the talent of Nadal.

Roddick, meanwhile, only threatened Nadal's serve once, at start of the third set, but the Spaniard saved all four break points there, the only four he faced all match.

Rain earlier in the week led the U.S. Tennis Association to delay the men's final from Sunday to Monday for the fourth consecutive year, and forced Roddick and Nadal on court for a third straight day. But only Roddick felt the effects, saying his sluggishness stemmed from a four-set victory over No. 5 David Ferrer on Thursday.

Murray, like Nadal one of tennis' top returners, weathered 17 aces at up to 140 mph from the 6-foot-9 Isner but repeatedly got back serves topping 130 mph and managed to break twice in a row bridging the first two sets.

"It's so frustrating playing against him because you feel like you're playing good tennis, and it's so hard to break him," said Murray, who has won his past 10 matches.

While Murray is a three-time Grand Slam runner-up, Isner was playing in his first such quarterfinal, and he acknowledged that jitters affected him at the outset.

"I wasn't swinging out like I felt like I should have early on in the match. I was just guiding the ball," said Isner, who lives in Tampa, Fla. "That was a little bit of nerves. It just took awhile to free up."

To date, Isner is best known for winning the longest match in tennis history, 70-68 in the fifth set in Wimbledon's first round in 2010, when he pounded 113 aces over its record 11 hours, 5 minutes.

Isner repeatedly has said he aims to be known for a more important victory in the late stages of a top tournament, but that'll have to wait.

"It's been a good run for me, but I'm still disappointed right now," Isner said. "I'm not satisfied."

Three-time major finalist Murray is only the seventh man in the Open era to reach at least the semifinals at all four Grand Slam tournaments in a single season. Three of the others: Federer, Nadal and Djokovic.

Trying to push Murray to a fifth set, Isner got the fourth into a tiebreaker, where his serving is usually a significant advantage.

Not this time.

Isner's play was littered with mistakes down the stretch: He double-faulted to trail 2-1, slapped what he later called a "gimme volley" into the net to make it 5-2, put a drop shot into the net for 6-2, then missed a forehand return on match point, ending things after 3 hours, 24 minutes.

"He put a ton of pressure on me," Murray said. "It was a relief to win that fourth-set 'breaker."

A key moment came when Isner held two break points while Murray served at 4-all, 15-40 in the fourth set.

On the first break point, Murray delivered a 129 mph ace. On the next, he hit a second serve that Isner thought might have been a fault ? it caught a line ? and Murray won the point with a stretching half-volley.

"I mean, how often does he make that shot? Probably not more than 50 percent," Isner said. "If I get that point there, I like my chances to serve it out. We'd still be out there right now."

Murray eventually held serve, although he clutched at the small of his back after one point. A game later, Murray's feet got tangled and he tumbled to the court. He quickly rose and afterward pronounced himself OK.

He'd better be, given what lies ahead against Nadal.

Brian Oliver, 45, was on his boat, the Cedar Rose, when it got caught in a storm Monday, three miles offshore.

After he was cast into the water, the Coast Guard and several other agencies spent hours searching for Oliver.

Oliver was hired to fix the electronics on the 42-foot boat and wanted to make sure they worked.

"This was mainly a test run and a little pleasure cruise, and it kind of turned into a little bit of a nightmare," Oliver said.

Oliver and the boat owners left at sunrise out of Ponce Inlet were headed to St. Augustine.

"Everything was doing real well. Pretty day. Nice wind. (We) set a course for three miles out at Ponce Inlet," Oliver said.

Oliver said he put the boat on autopilot, hoisted the sails, and shut off the motor.

At about 3 p.m. Monday, 30 miles shy of St. Augustine, the boat hit a squall.

"You could hear it coming, just a whooo," Oliver said. "The next thing you know, it hit us and the boat listed. I mean, like, it was fixing to go over."

The waves were so big he couldn't get back to the boat, which had quickly been pushed farther out to sea.

He thought quickly, tied the strings of his bathing suit onto the handle of the cooler and used it as a floatation device.

"Had enough string where it would stay off to the side like this, kind of out of my way, so I dog-paddled, and then when I needed to rest, I just turned around and hold onto the handle and drift in the water," Oliver said.

Oliver said he saw the Coast Guard helicopter three times and tried to wave, but it was too choppy.

The current was so strong, he ended up swimming nearly five miles.

Just after midnight, after about nine hours of dog paddling with a cooler, he finally made it to shore.

"First wave that picked me up sucked me up to the beach, second one carried me and the cooler on in," Oliver said. "Seeing my feet touch ground, I was like, 'Whew, I made it.'"

Libyan convoys in Niger, may be Gaddafi deal (Reuters)

BENGHAZI, Libya/AGADEZ, Niger (Reuters) ? Scores of Libyan army vehicles crossed the desert frontier into Niger in what may be a bid by Muammar Gaddafi to seek refuge in a friendly African state, military sources from France and Niger told Reuters on Tuesday.

The Libyan rebels who overthrew Gaddafi two weeks ago said they also thought about a dozen other vehicles that crossed the remote border may have carried gold and cash apparently looted from a branch of Libya's central bank in Gaddafi's home town.

Details of the developments remained very sketchy.

The military sources said a convoy of between 200 and 250 vehicles was escorted to the northern city of Agadez by the army of Niger, a poor and landlocked former French colony. It might, said a French military source, be joined by Gaddafi en route to adjacent Burkina Faso, which has offered him asylum.

U.S. officials said they thought Gaddafi was still in Libya, though the convoy in Niger might contain senior figures.

France, Niger and Burkina Faso, as well as Libya's new rulers and NATO, all denied knowing where Gaddafi was or of any deal to let him go abroad or find refuge from Libyans and the International Criminal Court who want to put him on trial.

French Foreign Ministry spokesman Bernard Valero said it was for Libyans to decide the venue but that Gaddafi must not slip away quietly. "He will have to face justice for all the crimes he has committed in the past 42 years," he said.

Near Tripoli, Reuters journalists found torture chambers used recently as Gaddafi tried to suppress the revolt.

Sources close to Niger's government said the head of Gaddafi's security brigade, Mansour Dhao, was in the capital Niamey. He was allowed in to the country earlier in the week.

But Niger's foreign minister, Bazoum Mohamed, was quoted by Al Arabiya television saying that Gaddafi was not in the military convoy, which arrived late on Monday.

Those comments did not contradict a French military source who said the 69-year-old fugitive and his son and heir Saif al-Islam might join the convoy later to head for Burkina Faso.

France has taken a lead in the NATO action backing Libya's uprising and, with its Western allies, would be likely to have the ability to track any sizeable convoy in the empty quarter.

But Niger's ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, Adani Illo, told Reuters that such surveillance over thousands of miles of desert was still hard. "The desert zone is vast and the frontier is porous," he said. "If a convoy of 200 to 250 vehicles went through, it is like a drop of water in an ocean."

Gaddafi has broadcast defiant messages since he was forced into hiding two weeks ago, and has vowed to die fighting on his own soil. But he also has long friendships with his poor African neighbors, with which he shared some of Libya's oil wealth.

The sources said the convoy, probably including officers from army units based in the south of Libya, may have looped through Algeria rather than cross the Libya-Niger frontier. Algeria last week took in Gaddafi's wife, daughter and two other sons, angering the interim council now ruling Libya.

"GOOD SPIRITS"

Gaddafi's fugitive spokesman Moussa Ibrahim said in remarks broadcast on Monday: "Muammar Gaddafi is in excellent health and in very, very high spirits ... He is in a place that will not be reached by those fractious groups, and he is in Libya."

NATO warplanes and spy satellites have been scouring Libya's deserts for months, raising the likelihood that any convoy of the size mentioned would have been spotted. But a spokesman for the Western alliance said it was not hunting Gaddafi and had a U.N. mandate only to stop his forces attacking civilians.

"Or mission is to protect the civilian population in Libya, not to track and target thousands of fleeing former regime leaders, mercenaries, military commanders and internally displaced people," Colonel Roland Lavoie said in a statement.

Tuareg nomads living in the Sahara say those fleeing Libya include many black Africans, some of whom may have been fighters for Gaddafi and most of whom fear the anger and reprisals of Gaddafi's enemies among Libya's Arabs.

NTC commanders last week said both Gaddafi and his son Saif al-Islam were in the tribal stronghold of Bani Walid, 150 km (90 miles) south of Tripoli. But that belief has evaporated this week after days of blockade of the town.

NTC officials said Saif al-Islam, for one, may have escaped south into the desert, toward the southern, pro-Gaddafi bastion of Sabha and perhaps on to Niger. Tracking him would be hard; fully 1,300 km (800 miles) of sand separate Sabha from Agadez, with a further 750 km of road to travel to Niamey.

Near Sirte, Gaddafi's home town on the Mediterranean coast, there was the first sign of heavy fighting for some days. Combatants reported exchanges of shell fire and rockets to the east. Several NTC fighters were wounded in an ambush.

Though conditions in Tripoli were improving with the return of water supplies two weeks after rebels overran Gaddafi's headquarters compound, evidence of brutality during his battle to cling to power during the Arab Spring is also accumulating.

Reuters journalists in the provincial town of Khoms found evidence Muammar Gaddafi had deployed squads which held suspected opponents in shipping containers, tortured them for information about insurgent networks and disposed of their bodies in unmarked graves.

"They wanted to frighten the people, so if anyone was thinking of going over to the rebels, they would change their minds," said Nabil al-Menshaz, a council official in the town.

AFRICAN JOURNEYS

A spokesman for the NTC said banknotes in the convoy of gold and cash that the council believed had reached Niger had been stolen from Sirte's branch of the Central Bank of Libya.

NTC official Fathis Baja told Reuters: "Late last night, 10 vehicles carrying gold, euros and dollars crossed from Jufra into Niger with the help of Tuaregs from the Niger tribe."

It was unclear if these vehicles were separate from the much larger military convoy reported by the foreign sources.

Burkina Faso, also once a French colony and a recipient of large amounts of Libyan aid, offered Gaddafi sanctuary last month but has also recognized the NTC as Libya's government.

President Blaise Compaore, like Gaddafi, took power in a military coup. He has run the country for 24 years.

Gaddafi has long touted his origins among the peoples of the desert. After largely turning his back on fellow Arab leaders, most of them allied with his Western adversaries, Gaddafi had portrayed himself as an African "king of kings".

He was fond of epic road journeys on his travels around the continent, so the drama of a flight across the Sahara into friendlier lands further south might seem a fitting departure.

Libya rebels hold off on attacking Gadhafi bastion (AP)

TARHOUNA, Libya ? Thousands of rebel fighters closed in around one of Libya's last pro-Gadhafi strongholds Monday, but held back on a final assault in hopes of avoiding a bloody battle for the town of Bani Walid.

The standoff came as rebel leaders in Tripoli said Libya's transition to democratic rule would begin with a "declaration of liberation" that was unlikely to come before Gadhafi's forces last strongholds were defeated and the fugitive former dictator had been captured.

The declaration would mark the start of an eight-month deadline for Libya's transitional council to arrange the vote for a national assembly, and eventually to a constitution and general elections.

"When the clock starts ticking on those eight months remains to be seen," rebel spokesman Jalal el-Gallal said, adding it wasn't yet clear how liberation would be defined.

Special U.N. envoy Ian Martin, meanwhile, said the United Nations was helping the rebel leadership prepare for its elections, stressing the country faces immense political hurdles after nearly 42 years of dictatorial rule.

"The U.N. is certainly ready to move very fast to bring in the electoral expertise that can assist the authorities," he said at a news conference in Tripoli with Ahmed Darrad, the interior minister.

The rebels most immediate concern is Bani Walid, a desert town some 90 miles (140 kilometers) southeast of Tripoli, where they say a small but heavily armed force of pro-Gadhafi fighters ? at least some of them high-ranking members of his ousted regime ? have taken up defensive positions.

The loyalists are spreading fear in the town to keep other residents from surrendering, the rebels say, telling people the rebels will rape their wives and daughters.

The regime loyalists "know if they hand themselves in, they will be punished. They are trying hard to mess things up, to drag other people with them into a battle," said rebel Col. Abdullah Hussein Salem.

Most of the country has welcomed the uprising that swept Gadhafi from power, though rebel forces ? backed by NATO airstrikes ? have yet to capture loyalist bastions like Bani Walid, Gadhafi's hometown of Sirte and the isolated southern town of Sabha.

Gadhafi has been on the run since losing control of his capital last month, though the rebels say at least two of his sons had been in Bani Walid in recent days. Moussa Ibrahim, Gadhafi's spokesman and one of his key aides, was still believed to be in the town, rebel officials said.

Talks broke down over the weekend after Ibrahim insisted the rebels put down their weapons before entering the town.

The rebels have extended to Saturday a deadline for the surrender of Sirte and other loyalist areas, though some rebel officials have said they could attack Bani Walid sooner because it has so many prominent loyalists.

For the most part, though, the rebels are urging patience, saying they want to avoid a bitter inter-tribal fight that could create lasting divisions.

"We won't go inside Bani Walid unless the Warfala tribe invites us," said rebel commander Ismail al-Gitani, referring to the town's main tribe. "The Warfala have to lead us into Bani Walid. Hopefully no one will be shot. We don't want to use our weapons. But if the Gadhafi loyalists shoot at us, of course we will return fire."

The Warfala are believed to be about 1-million strong, one-sixth of Libya's population.

Rebel commanders have said they were willing to hold more talks about the town's surrender, though apparently no negotiations were held Monday. Rebel negotiator Abdullah Kanshil added that the rebels were talking to individual families in the town about their urgent needs for water and food.

A field hospital with ten doctors also has been set up about 40 miles (60 kilometers) from Bani Walid.

"Our families in Bani Walid asked us to start this hospital just in case fighting breaks out," said Abdel Baset el-Beib, a doctor.
